East to West

Having lived on the equator all my life where the sun rises in the East each morning, climbs overhead as mid-day approaches and settles evening time in the West, I found myself confused here in the cold Norwich winter.

After three days of careful observation, I now realize that the sun still rises in the East and sets in the West. But what it does is climb barely half-way up the horizon, moves gingerly from left to right until about 4pm when it gives up the light of day and reclines into the horizon.

Really as much as books and videos are great, nothing beats figuring it out by yourself. I am so smart Ainit? (also see: British slang for "isn't it?")
